They have a rolled top cuff that is a bit too big around but the foot part fits wonderfully. I will probably knit with smaller needles on the leg part next time to adjust the size.<br />I wear size 11 shoes so making socks takes a bit longer. But I LOVE HANDMADE SOCKS! I love that they fit!<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim_nttSPj3Cxxz-8NYO9po5RRtxsCIxduZExkeoq9CdJCKgkIFHbXUHOv0avKWJz7zV7D-69I7Snz_uHQtNnjJLiU6PGLRiGkRHmSpfZ8VTi0vdMrT3TfcscJYxkT58bliiLL-/s1600-h/GreenSox1.jpeg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim_nttSPj3Cxxz-8NYO9po5RRtxsCIxduZExkeoq9CdJCKgkIFHbXUHOv0avKWJz7zV7D-69I7Snz_uHQtNnjJLiU6PGLRiGkRHmSpfZ8VTi0vdMrT3TfcscJYxkT58bliiLL-/s320/GreenSox1.jpeg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5043055710224196994" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZiLKSWGSB0TLs0HWclC5aqtR2SR0K7LTNLoplfcfH3RFCFgplqkj_9nX4gUXN-7bGEt1wqB0YKZqaKp90e0GyzRUrnDUdZbSDlg-MiLfWnfqIoIAdmmhWBS58wyf91zf5mym-/s1600-h/GreenSox2.jpeg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZiLKSWGSB0TLs0HWclC5aqtR2SR0K7LTNLoplfcfH3RFCFgplqkj_9nX4gUXN-7bGEt1wqB0YKZqaKp90e0GyzRUrnDUdZbSDlg-MiLfWnfqIoIAdmmhWBS58wyf91zf5mym-/s320/GreenSox2.jpeg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5043056474728375698" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVpg7tvKD4bVcUJbzG4socCqSUlQwSV5HpW0-GwdEIImidACfRu2lYh7NgUJYZXkyLSvzS5ZPEImVbxzsLUm-1ef0yAWjGPEPge2sOJQMXI9NaaetVtuu5iHhPcuMe7lP05R0p/s1600-h/GreenGiant.jpeg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVpg7tvKD4bVcUJbzG4socCqSUlQwSV5HpW0-GwdEIImidACfRu2lYh7NgUJYZXkyLSvzS5ZPEImVbxzsLUm-1ef0yAWjGPEPge2sOJQMXI9NaaetVtuu5iHhPcuMe7lP05R0p/s320/GreenGiant.jpeg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5043056689476740514" border="0" /></a>KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-22359723823642308942007-02-23T20:02:00.000-06:002007-02-23T20:13:08.426-06:00Hello! :)<br /><br />I've been knitting on a pair of socks lately. I finished the first sock and the gauge was a bit off. OOPSIE! so now, it is a slipper sock. A bit too.. bulky.. to be a shoe sock. well, maybe wear them with my slides or sneakers. maybe...<br />I am knitting with Lion Brand Microspun in LIME GREEN! I absolutely LOVE this color. The yarn is being a snit though. It's diffucult to knit with size 2 needles. I read over in the LiveJournal knitting community that it is easier to crochet with this yarn. I think it makes pretty socks! :)<br /><br />I have this rather HUGE knitpicks.com order coming to me next week! I am so excited. haha. I wrote about it in my last journal entry but the shipping tracker says that the estimated time it will get here is February 28th. ARG! HURRY UP! LOL But the weather up in... Ohio?... was really bad and they got behind on their shipping because of the mega-blizzard-ish that happened all over that part of the States. So, I understand. I am all excited because I have loads of sock yarn coming and I bought some yarn to make a Clapotis from knitty.com.<br />I also ordered a full set of DPNs ranging from size 0 to size 8.<br /><br />ANYWAYS... :) Just because I don't want to post without a picture attached... here is a photo for your viewing pleasure!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwKeGFiQBOSU4XVj3Pg1787KBkVwfCkFLKfJQb8o1nK9jWKM31ch6XsCCmFNZRVBvIMwmJsieYQ49lS-fNiPGPU-SDq8VBZiLVHW_AGp6-adOTaywBDL_wT9oTfhimTTwkIl5E/s1600-h/Hokey_Pokey.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwKeGFiQBOSU4XVj3Pg1787KBkVwfCkFLKfJQb8o1nK9jWKM31ch6XsCCmFNZRVBvIMwmJsieYQ49lS-fNiPGPU-SDq8VBZiLVHW_AGp6-adOTaywBDL_wT9oTfhimTTwkIl5E/s320/Hokey_Pokey.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5034917579971446466" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />What would you do with this yarn? I got it on discount at Hobby Lobby thinking that I would make slipper socks out of them for my friends.<br />What do you think?KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-32344106464275979602007-02-16T23:31:00.000-06:002007-02-16T23:45:23.785-06:00What was supposed to me a mitten.... turned out too small for my hand... is now a water bottle cozy. haha<br /><br />I was attempting to make <a href="http://helloyarn.com/piratemittens.htm">Pirate Mittens from HelloYarn.com</a> but decided to make fingerless gloves instead. Got the first one done, sans the thumb, and tried it on. It was so small. So as I sipped my water, I got a brilliant idea! BOTTLE COZY!<br />I squeezed the not-so-mitten over the bottle and TA DA! The hippest bottle cozy around!<br />I even left the green yarn in the supposed thumb placement. Gives it character! :)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK5LbBXA05YkqJPOR-tho8ga-asU8c7MTDr30v1VmN70zg-Pa_pt4XS2AzaMD7ch0aRGmVDVVltHBlKQKPGQubsR-UvMHsVjOAx5cd_1Cgf4sL4mOo0bDwTonDf73htltsXWX0/s1600-h/not-so-mitten_front.jpeg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK5LbBXA05YkqJPOR-tho8ga-asU8c7MTDr30v1VmN70zg-Pa_pt4XS2AzaMD7ch0aRGmVDVVltHBlKQKPGQubsR-UvMHsVjOAx5cd_1Cgf4sL4mOo0bDwTonDf73htltsXWX0/s320/not-so-mitten_front.jpeg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032373224165426802" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSUTC8fnFPTFTTQw_x8fbsrnhSleZRO2fuc3FaIB6jE5CuYGPJ9Zf91IWuyrAXE-2HqW6-8x-Wqo21VPIg_5XOkabByp0xhKYFfpEUrbyauVYEiCPMmQ8kNUtZd2kUp430576y/s1600-h/not-so-mitten_back.jpeg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSUTC8fnFPTFTTQw_x8fbsrnhSleZRO2fuc3FaIB6jE5CuYGPJ9Zf91IWuyrAXE-2HqW6-8x-Wqo21VPIg_5XOkabByp0xhKYFfpEUrbyauVYEiCPMmQ8kNUtZd2kUp430576y/s320/not-so-mitten_back.jpeg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032373331539609218" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I used brown Highland Wool from Elann.com and the pink is Lamb's Pride that I dyed with koolaid. I started these socks last July (see july 12th post for reference) and I got half way down the cuff then put them aside. I picked them up yesterday and finished them. yay! They are WARM although they are lace and made from acrylic.<br />I could call them my superbowl socks since it is today... even though I (probably) won't watch the superbowl. They are a bit too girly to be superbowl socks. heh.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0f3Vd4ij6l5-A4L_SiFMR_nkmYAaHuos8-qQztDR4Q9_iDMKjkXeHQF3yDmBUeO9V-uchSl0F6LgmPhV4MZG2GHYm0yo8588QOBqF4mP9pCiwH7D4XzFFk1dVK6LZk1u5POkC/s1600-h/straight_lace_stocks_2-4-07.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0f3Vd4ij6l5-A4L_SiFMR_nkmYAaHuos8-qQztDR4Q9_iDMKjkXeHQF3yDmBUeO9V-uchSl0F6LgmPhV4MZG2GHYm0yo8588QOBqF4mP9pCiwH7D4XzFFk1dVK6LZk1u5POkC/s320/straight_lace_stocks_2-4-07.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027813659859547666" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />They are knit in Caron Simply Soft in "Bone" color. I am definatley going to be using this book for years to come.<br /><br />I think my next project is going to be some kind of fair isle mittens. It was a close-out sale at the Dollar Tree. :) 2nd picture is more true to color.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-WOS9X3nqaQWsMv8v3Xav_k3r32uJUX_pMZSPxb_3XxonudxqAHPtm4QNp3RPHjn01_31Tw3knrVSRJywkKx6mAruZy3Wip8iMUPm-MaXT2rKLUkuJN18R0rQ_8oEuSLNk83Q/s1600-h/Photo_9.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-WOS9X3nqaQWsMv8v3Xav_k3r32uJUX_pMZSPxb_3XxonudxqAHPtm4QNp3RPHjn01_31Tw3knrVSRJywkKx6mAruZy3Wip8iMUPm-MaXT2rKLUkuJN18R0rQ_8oEuSLNk83Q/s320/Photo_9.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027431613928633778" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyQQJgozJxoHVIDwfj9q5MDqACg6L8Y-muzH9WDZFfHX0PyanwjScepbD2XcifU-mxA0jXJaDn5kscqoIB1cdQ8HMptvuSW-HUHKfWJmOKC4GHwtXEWVYP-uNjX5miwBbb37hJ/s1600-h/Photo_7.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyQQJgozJxoHVIDwfj9q5MDqACg6L8Y-muzH9WDZFfHX0PyanwjScepbD2XcifU-mxA0jXJaDn5kscqoIB1cdQ8HMptvuSW-HUHKfWJmOKC4GHwtXEWVYP-uNjX5miwBbb37hJ/s320/Photo_7.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027431721302816194" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Then I finished the <a href="http://www.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=138024">Pinwheel Sweater from Elann.com</a>. I used Caron Simply Soft in Autumn Red and Black. I made several modifications. I knit one more color change before I made the provisional cast on for the sleeves. This was my first time working with a provisional cast on and it was not hard at all. Once I got to the end of making the huge circle, I tried it on and it was not as big as I had hoped it woud be. So I took stitch holders (the kind that look like huge safety pins) and marked where the bend of my leg is at on the circle. Then I picked up the stitches from the first stitch holder up and around the neck and down to the next stitch holder. I knit, keeping with the pattern as before, 3 more color changes and then pick up the stitches along the side edge of the angled piece to give it a finished look... then bind off. You will also keep with the increases as the pattern calls for when you swith to the k 1 row, p 1 row pattern at the end. This makes a nice front angle on each side. I also added a button to make it close real pretty.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib-8VyGQUyeo3buaqvwtDa4Qh9VN5KVk22HjmeD4WPgJMYHGpyzLpDd_f_OWcUYnE-GllWfv-rzGVGmq9vq0cGMmlv4XFPIB9-PqI-yVp33MXwNCjEd7IB3hZXaxTpD3OYBXQw/s1600-h/Photo_20.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib-8VyGQUyeo3buaqvwtDa4Qh9VN5KVk22HjmeD4WPgJMYHGpyzLpDd_f_OWcUYnE-GllWfv-rzGVGmq9vq0cGMmlv4XFPIB9-PqI-yVp33MXwNCjEd7IB3hZXaxTpD3OYBXQw/s320/Photo_20.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027499762174719442" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXXBsHRowj6lMAwHhZmxIN6i-Pis0Vet9b7dqubPcQOE5q8Als-M8TBLVO3NBE7IJA_9ydBBI1r_w95mYdcqzidXB7Pd5rHEfD3X-VmqBAb2xFpBPTTrHZSyEHKgwzA1svpngk/s1600-h/Photo_16.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXXBsHRowj6lMAwHhZmxIN6i-Pis0Vet9b7dqubPcQOE5q8Als-M8TBLVO3NBE7IJA_9ydBBI1r_w95mYdcqzidXB7Pd5rHEfD3X-VmqBAb2xFpBPTTrHZSyEHKgwzA1svpngk/s320/Photo_16.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027500114362037730" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVM3EL0AkS3dOlw2y4VfadEk-JnyWB4ZNyOeSmTWqeExc5aKOPQjvYLiab9E3iq7C1BKKThI4S0TZnfoaV2DVhlVzrfel574SbwNdGRlG7-HLh17sSFzKFjWwzjXCkI7bF8LIl/s1600-h/Photo_17.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVM3EL0AkS3dOlw2y4VfadEk-JnyWB4ZNyOeSmTWqeExc5aKOPQjvYLiab9E3iq7C1BKKThI4S0TZnfoaV2DVhlVzrfel574SbwNdGRlG7-HLh17sSFzKFjWwzjXCkI7bF8LIl/s320/Photo_17.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027500664117851650" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTQ4f7X8gJa7p_7vIuF2mXeLpJ4J0AIdC8yuEcRkQ9eltodGkoeV9I9vOES4etsYzOc-UY02uuVglMBZQ0tWxQGvY9OH1sre-KDueQCuBPjWJEhKVl89TXhSHWnsy979Ti_f1e/s1600-h/Photo_12.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTQ4f7X8gJa7p_7vIuF2mXeLpJ4J0AIdC8yuEcRkQ9eltodGkoeV9I9vOES4etsYzOc-UY02uuVglMBZQ0tWxQGvY9OH1sre-KDueQCuBPjWJEhKVl89TXhSHWnsy979Ti_f1e/s320/Photo_12.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5027500380650010098" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Please excuse the mess in my computer/yarn stash room. :) What you see in the 3-drawer stand is just a small fraction of what is actually here.<br /><br />Currently, I am working on socks! I downloaded all of Knitty D and the City but have not had a chance to listen to them. If you have any suggestions on a good podcast, please let me know! :)<br /><br />Hope you all are having a good weekend!KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-1169433822275994532007-01-21T20:27:00.000-06:002007-01-21T20:43:42.286-06:00So, I have been listening to knitting podcasts lately. There is one in particular that I have heard that I really like. It's called "Unwound". Website: http://unwound.libsyn.com/ You can search itunes podcasts for Unwound and you can subscribe to it for free. This podcast is very informative and fun! Kelli, the host of Unwound, touches on a lot of different topics to keep it fresh. She doesnt just talk about her projects... she makes it interactive. She has a voicemail number that you can call in and respond to her polls. She plays the responses on her podcasts. It's very cool. Very well though out and it sounds professional. Good Job, Kelli! :)<br /><br />I just started to listen to podcast this morning. HA! I listened to all of Unwound's podcasts (7, I believe) and now I am listening to some others. So far, I like Unwound A LOT better. Since this morning, I have downloaded 380 knitting related podcasts. o_O Good thing I bought some soft gel earbuds. :)<br /><br />I am committing to keeping up with my knit blog in 2007. I am also going to keep track of all my Finished knitting and crochet. I'm going to post pictures! PROMISE! :)<br /><br />Oh, Since I wrote last, I got married. :D October 14, 2006. <br /><br /><br />I need to update my side bar that has all my works in progress. I finished the fish blanket, frogged the shawl, the besotted scarf is STILL on hold... <br /><br /><br />Currently, I am working on a vest and a sweater coat. I have just one sleeve left on the sweater coat and I finished the back of the vest and I am half way through the front.<br /><br />Well, that is all for right now. I will try to work on the side bar... but if I dont get to it for a few days, dont hold it against me. :)<br /><br />~KarenKarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-1152702977093614082006-07-12T05:11:00.000-06:002006-07-12T05:16:17.110-06:00AHHHHH!! I am rather intrigued by my wedding shawl I am knitting. http://secure.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=127024 I have never knitted lace before... if you consider this motif 'lace'. Here is what I have so far. This is just one repeat of the pattern. I added one more repeat so it is a large shawl.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/quarter%20shawl.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/quarter%20shawl.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />I have also been working... slowly... on Andy's fish afghan. I have 9 grey fish knitted and 2 black knitted.<br />I need 9 more grey, 10 more black and 18 white fishes to complete the blanket. Take a look at a couple pix of the fishies. Note: each one of those fish are 13 inches long.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/fish.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/fish.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/fish2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/fish2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />Now I have it in my head that I want to knit or crochet a spring/summer purse. gah.<br /><br />I am also going to participate in a Knit Socks! knit along. It starts June 1 and I totally cant wait. I am going to see if I can knit the socks in 2 days! neat challenge for me. I am on vacation all week and I can knit all day thurs and friday. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. be neat to see if i can do it. :)<br /><br /><br />well, its midnight, better get to bed.KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-1147064951502520232006-05-07T23:06:00.000-06:002006-05-07T23:09:11.503-06:00So, I've been working on the knitted fish for the Fish Blanket I am making for Andy. It feels like an eternity!! I want to start making other things SOOOO bad! But, I have to stick with this. I need to get it done in a good amount of time and not let it rot in a rubbermaid box for a year before I finish it. 20% done. Not too shabby for an A.D.D. knitter. :D<br /><br /><br />I have been slowly unraveling the ugly crocheted blanket I started. Almost done. I want to recycle that yarn to make another, more attractive, crocheted throw.<br /><br /><br />It's like midnight, i need sleep.<br /><br />ZZzzZZzZzZZzzZZzzZZzz....KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-1146452240078456582006-04-30T20:45:00.000-06:002006-04-30T20:57:20.093-06:00YAY! Socks are done!!<br />Freakin' finally! Dang, i thought it would never end! Plus, I have a size 11 foot so it was like extra work knitting the foot length. One of the socks feels smaller than the other. The second one I knit feels like my gauge was just a tad tighter. Oh well, my ginormous feet will stretch it out :D<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/SOCKS_4-30-06.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/SOCKS_4-30-06.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/Inspector_Missy.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/Inspector_Missy.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Of course, my furbaby, Missy, had to make sure that the toe seam was done correctly. HAHA!<br />I had enough yarn left over to make baby socks. YAY!<br /><br /><br />I bought yarn yesterday... haha! It's a sickness.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/green_sock_yarn.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/green_sock_yarn.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/Hokey_Pokey.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/Hokey_Pokey.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Green yarn is for socks. Red Heart yarn is for slipper socks. But i have the right to change my mind at any time ;) hahah<br /><br />Here is some great yarn that I unraveled from a thrift store sweater. it is chunky yarn and there is ALOT of yarn there.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/frogged_sweater2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/frogged_sweater2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />Next up on the knitting agenda... I gave in to the powers of the sock yarn and started to knit another pair of socks. The last couple of days I have been picking up the needles and then putting them back down again and playing games online or watching tv or whatever. I am on fish 7 or 8 of Andy's blanket. I have to knit 35 of the lil fishies. I start in knitting the fish pieces and then just... loose interest? I think it is because I try to knit in front of the computer. I have a laptop so I could just close the lid. But then I think of something I wanted to look up and there the lid opens again and I lose another 45mins to an hour on the internet. *sigh* I was watching tv when I started the sock. Now I am into the socks and will definately finish them. I think it is because the socks actucally need my attention to knit them. it keeps my interest. The fishies are monotonous. I have the pattern memorized now.<br />But I NEED to finish the blanket. i started on a sweater for Andy and havent picked it up since about July of last year. It is a lost cause. I havent gotten very far on it, thank goodness.<br /><br />I also have this bigggggggggggg... crocheted afgan that i started and am about 1/4 way done with it. but i want to frog it all and make this. <a href="http://patternsbydot.blogspot.com/2006/01/scrumptious-scraps-afghan.html">scrumptious scraps afgan</a><br />I totally have enough scrap acrylic yarn to make 4 of these. and i just might! :D<br /><br />I think I just have a bit of spring fever. i get excited about knitting or crocheting something then i lose all interest again. maybe it is just A.D.D. hahaha...<br /><br />I want to go back to my LYS and pick up some Noro Kuryeon but I dont want to spend like $10.50 a skein on it! I am sure that I can find some online and come out better even with the shipping.<br /><br />Anyways, it is 11.30pm and I need to hit the sack. Mmmm... i love my bed. i dont know why i dont spend more time there.KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-1144616560356337882006-04-09T14:10:00.000-06:002006-04-09T15:02:40.376-06:00Hello!<br /><br />I went to the yarn store in Fayetteville yesterday and Guess what I am going to make!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/guess_1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/guess_1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/LornasLace_1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/LornasLace_1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />YUP! I bought some Lorna's Lace sock yarn in "watercolor". SOOO pretty. I didnt have size #2 DPNs so I got some of those too. MmMm Addi's!<br />The store (<a href="http://www.handheldknitting.com/">Hand Held: A knitting gallery</a>) is nice and they have alot of nice (and expensive) yarns. I have always been curious about Noro yarns. I seen the most referenced Noro yarn: Kuryeon. This yarn is GORGEOUS! but I dont get what the hype is about. It really isnt that soft. Maybe you have to hand wash it first...? It would make a gorgeous bag or maybe a shawl. I just cant imagine it close to the skin.<br />There are soooo many other yummy yarns there. They even have some recycled silk that I have also been curious about. Alot of different colors from what you see on ebay auctions and the like. There was some really pretty orange and yellow that I wouldnt mind having. But this yarn shop is like.... If you have to ask what the price of something is... maybe you dont need to be in there. Know what I mean? Anyways, the ppl there are nice and helpful. They even had a knitting class going on that I was watching. Very neat.<br />I then went to a thrift shop to see if there was any sweaters that I could "repurpose" the yarn. Nah, couldnt find any that I liked. But I did find a hank of some pretty grey worsted weight yarn. Just one though. Im guessing about 150 yards. Cant do much with it. Maybe some fingerless gloves?<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/grey.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/grey.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Tonight I am going to have an opprotunity to sit down and knit on some more of the fishes for Andy's blanket. I might even take some pictures. I started on some fish for a baby blanket (same brite colors I used in my Star-gan). <br /><br />Man, I look around this room and see all this great yarn that I THOUGHT I had great ideas for but the idea's fizzled out. I have 10 skeins of this beautiful yarn that is 100% wool and a great stawberry color. 1450 yards total but cant figure out what I want to do with it. Maybe a <a href="http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html">Clapotis</a>... Maybe. I would probably make it in the bigger stole pattern. Meh.. Maybe start out and make a regular one. Who freakin knows! haha.<br /><br />You know, I sit here and think about what I might do with all my knitted and crocheted items. I have SEVERAL <a href="http://patbythehook.blogdrive.com/archive/35.html">UBW(ugly but warm) hats</a> that I made. I wear some of them but I have so many... and I am sure that over the years I will accumulate alot more. I know there are several charities to donate to... I guess I just need to do more research in that area.<br /><br />Well, Gotta go. Might try to take pix of the fish for the blanket since there is still alot of beautiful sunshine out there.<br /><br />Have a great day!KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566016.post-1144373061369347892006-04-06T19:04:00.000-06:002006-04-06T19:24:21.383-06:00Hi :)<br /><br />I have another Blogger blog bloggity blog blog somewhere on there but I totally forgot the user/pass for it. SOOO here I am. back again. weee<br /><br /><br />I have a livejournal and a myspace account. blogger just adds to my obsession.<br /><br />speaking of obsession... i love to knit and crochet<br />Here is my latest FO (finished object)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/star_blanket1.0.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/star_blanket1.0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />That's mousey checking out the situation.<br /><br /><br /><br />Right now, I am working on a knit fish afagan for Andy, my stud muffin.<br />Here is a link to a <a href="http://www.musicology.ucla.edu/grads/sun/knitting/fish.html">pattern </a>for it. I am making it in black, white and grey. I am also using 3 strands held together with size 13 needles so the fish are hella big! I only need 35 of them to make an oversized throw. I am using Caron's simply soft. Andy picked out the yarn :o<br /><br />Saturday, I think I am going to go into Fayetteville and try to find <a href="http://www.handheldknitting.com/">Hand Held: A knitting gallery</a>. It is a yarn shop with lots of paraphinalia! haha I have not ever been to a REAL yarn shop with lots of yummy wool. I just go to Hobby Lobby, Hancock Fabrics or Wal-Mart.<br /><br />I am totally going to buy some yarn!!<br /><br />I made my first pair of socks about a month ago. I knitted them with some worsted acrylic yarn. I bought the book <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1580175376/102-8980455-9623363?v=glance&n=283155">Knit Socks!</a> It is a pretty good book. I recommend it for sock beginners.<br />It is a pair of slipper socks because the yarn was so thick. I knitted it with a set of 5 size 3 DPNs (double pointed needles). Here is a picture of my first sock!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/1600/First_sock.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6649/2673/320/First_sock.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The sock is really big, especially around the ankles. That is why it looks like I have cankles. hahaha...<br />I have alot of sock yarn but havent gotten up the courage to make a pair I can wear with socks. Although, knitting socks is alot easier than it sounds... maybe I will try to start a pair this weekend. :)<br /><br />Alright, Enough for one day!<br /><br />Take care.KarenRebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06990841863879976970noreply@blogger.com2
