Well, on this wonderful St. Patrick's Day, I have a finished pair of GREEN socks for your viewing pleasure!
Made with Lion Brand MicroSpun in Lime Green with my own pattern. They have a rolled top cuff that is a bit too big around but the foot part fits wonderfully. I will probably knit with smaller needles on the leg part next time to adjust the size.
I wear size 11 shoes so making socks takes a bit longer. But I LOVE HANDMADE SOCKS! I love that they fit!

Hello! :)

I've been knitting on a pair of socks lately. I finished the first sock and the gauge was a bit off. OOPSIE! so now, it is a slipper sock. A bit too.. bulky.. to be a shoe sock. well, maybe wear them with my slides or sneakers. maybe...
I am knitting with Lion Brand Microspun in LIME GREEN! I absolutely LOVE this color. The yarn is being a snit though. It's diffucult to knit with size 2 needles. I read over in the LiveJournal knitting community that it is easier to crochet with this yarn. I think it makes pretty socks! :)

I have this rather HUGE knitpicks.com order coming to me next week! I am so excited. haha. I wrote about it in my last journal entry but the shipping tracker says that the estimated time it will get here is February 28th. ARG! HURRY UP! LOL But the weather up in... Ohio?... was really bad and they got behind on their shipping because of the mega-blizzard-ish that happened all over that part of the States. So, I understand. I am all excited because I have loads of sock yarn coming and I bought some yarn to make a Clapotis from knitty.com.
I also ordered a full set of DPNs ranging from size 0 to size 8.

ANYWAYS... :) Just because I don't want to post without a picture attached... here is a photo for your viewing pleasure!

What would you do with this yarn? I got it on discount at Hobby Lobby thinking that I would make slipper socks out of them for my friends.
What do you think?

What was supposed to me a mitten.... turned out too small for my hand... is now a water bottle cozy. haha

I was attempting to make Pirate Mittens from HelloYarn.com but decided to make fingerless gloves instead. Got the first one done, sans the thumb, and tried it on. It was so small. So as I sipped my water, I got a brilliant idea! BOTTLE COZY!
I squeezed the not-so-mitten over the bottle and TA DA! The hippest bottle cozy around!
I even left the green yarn in the supposed thumb placement. Gives it character! :)

I used brown Highland Wool from Elann.com and the pink is Lamb's Pride that I dyed with koolaid. Size 3 DPNs
My very first color work project.

I ordered a large amount of goodies from various online stores this morning. Now I am counting down the days before they get here.
CANT. WAIT.

And on another note, my new iPod Nano has a new home.

And, I took one of my "Pen Pal" that I made. I gradually add things to the top of this pen. I just added the green "scarf" for the kitty. HAHA.

Alright, enough foolishness.

Good Night :)

I finished a pair of socks today. I started these socks last July (see july 12th post for reference) and I got half way down the cuff then put them aside. I picked them up yesterday and finished them. yay! They are WARM although they are lace and made from acrylic.
I could call them my superbowl socks since it is today... even though I (probably) won't watch the superbowl. They are a bit too girly to be superbowl socks. heh.

They are knit in Caron Simply Soft in "Bone" color. Knit with size #3 US DPN needles.
The pattern, Straight Lace Socks, is from Knit Socks! by Betsy Lee McCarthy. It is in the worsted weight version and sans fun fur.

Acutually, I LOVE the Knit Socks! book! I am definatley going to be using this book for years to come.

I think my next project is going to be some kind of fair isle mittens. Maybe something like these AWESOME MITTENS!
Or maybe some Pirate Mittens! or SQUIRREL MITTENS! or These Pretty Mittens!
This pattern says its for MEN but I think they would look nice on me! :) These are also Men's Mittens but very cute.

These Fingerless Gloves are cute!

Anyways! Hope everyone is having a good Sunday!

So far this year, I have finished 2 items.
First, a bulky vest knit with Paton's Pebble in the red colorway. It was a close-out sale at the Dollar Tree. :) 2nd picture is more true to color.

Then I finished the Pinwheel Sweater from Elann.com. I used Caron Simply Soft in Autumn Red and Black. I made several modifications. I knit one more color change before I made the provisional cast on for the sleeves. This was my first time working with a provisional cast on and it was not hard at all. Once I got to the end of making the huge circle, I tried it on and it was not as big as I had hoped it woud be. So I took stitch holders (the kind that look like huge safety pins) and marked where the bend of my leg is at on the circle. Then I picked up the stitches from the first stitch holder up and around the neck and down to the next stitch holder. I knit, keeping with the pattern as before, 3 more color changes and then pick up the stitches along the side edge of the angled piece to give it a finished look... then bind off. You will also keep with the increases as the pattern calls for when you swith to the k 1 row, p 1 row pattern at the end. This makes a nice front angle on each side. I also added a button to make it close real pretty.

Please excuse the mess in my computer/yarn stash room. :) What you see in the 3-drawer stand is just a small fraction of what is actually here.

Currently, I am working on socks! YAY FOR SOCKS!

I have been listening to some neat podcasts lately. I like Unwound, Beneath the Fiber Moon, Lime and Violet, Pointy Sticks, The Mosh Knit, Knitting Psychos... I downloaded all of Knitty D and the City but have not had a chance to listen to them. If you have any suggestions on a good podcast, please let me know! :)

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

So, I have been listening to knitting podcasts lately. There is one in particular that I have heard that I really like. It's called "Unwound". Website: http://unwound.libsyn.com/ You can search itunes podcasts for Unwound and you can subscribe to it for free. This podcast is very informative and fun! Kelli, the host of Unwound, touches on a lot of different topics to keep it fresh. She doesnt just talk about her projects... she makes it interactive. She has a voicemail number that you can call in and respond to her polls. She plays the responses on her podcasts. It's very cool. Very well though out and it sounds professional. Good Job, Kelli! :)

I just started to listen to podcast this morning. HA! I listened to all of Unwound's podcasts (7, I believe) and now I am listening to some others. So far, I like Unwound A LOT better. Since this morning, I have downloaded 380 knitting related podcasts. o_O Good thing I bought some soft gel earbuds. :)

I am committing to keeping up with my knit blog in 2007. I am also going to keep track of all my Finished knitting and crochet. I'm going to post pictures! PROMISE! :)

Oh, Since I wrote last, I got married. :D October 14, 2006.

I need to update my side bar that has all my works in progress. I finished the fish blanket, frogged the shawl, the besotted scarf is STILL on hold...

Currently, I am working on a vest and a sweater coat. I have just one sleeve left on the sweater coat and I finished the back of the vest and I am half way through the front.

Well, that is all for right now. I will try to work on the side bar... but if I dont get to it for a few days, dont hold it against me. :)
